Lead Data Scientist with Cloud Expertise at Novo Nordisk A/S (Bagsværd, Denmark)

About The Department

We are a newly formed team of data scientists, analysts, and machine learning engineers with the goal of partnering across the organisation to deliver impactful end to end analytics and ML (Machine Learning) solutions spanning from Research, to Commercial and Production. We want to industrialise and democratise the way we do analytics, reducing the lead time from PoC to Prod with the creation of an MLOps framework, reference architectures and modularised components that span across the whole ML lifecycle. We are cloud native and work primarily in AWS. We work agile, embrace continuous learning and a culture of feedback and honesty, and we don’t forget to have fun.

Our AI CoE is part of the larger area of Data Management and Analytics, where we get to work closely with our AWS data lake and data science platforms, having cross-functional power to quickly design and implement scalable solutions as well as take care of operations. We are currently 40 internal and external employees in three different locations in India, USA and Denmark. We are growing fast, having doubled the number of people in the area within the past year.

The Position

As our Lead Data Scientist, you will work together with data scientists, data engineers and business experts across the organisation to build ML solutions.

• Develop and productize state-of-the-art ML algorithms, to impact and accelerate projects across Novo Nordisk’s value chain


• Lead the development of an MLOps framework and use of best practices. Proactively identify use cases and improve ML algorithms, libraries and methods that can scale ML across the organisation


• Cooperate across data science, data engineering and cloud infrastructure to accelerate data science solutions and mature our platforms


• Do technology scouting and due diligence and advise management and colleagues on tech solutions and strategy

The position is primarily located next to HQ in Bagsværd (Greater Copenhagen area), with flexible working options.

Qualifications

This role is for you if you have software development capabilities and deep understanding of data science. We are looking for someone, who has:

• 4+ years of experience within Data & Analytics


• Background in a quantitative field, e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering.


• Deep knowledge of Python and Spark and familiarity with other programming languages


• Hands-on experience in designing and implementing in cloud (ideally AWS and its components i.e. SageMaker, Lambda, Glue), deploying with CI/CD and working with modern build, test and deployment tools and interest in IaC (i.e. CDK, CloudFormation)


• Solid knowledge of Machine Learning (i.e. scikit-learn) and ideally Deep Learning (i.e. Tensorflow, PyTorch)


• Experience in working across the lifecycle of ML or data-intensive applications, all the way from deployment to operations


• Entrepreneurial spirit who has both the technical vision and the capability to roll sleeves up and translate needs to practical technical solutions


• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across business and technology functions
