Senior Engineering Manager (Developer Portal) (f/m/d) at Delivery Hero SE (Berlin, Germany)

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager (f/m/d)to join our international team. You will lead a team which is responsible for implementing features and services for our global operational platform.

Your mission:

As a result of our fast growth and acquisitions, Delivery Hero is now home to over 4000 engineers who build and operate multiple large-scale consumer-facing platforms. To make their work more engaging and fun, as well as more productive, we are building a developer portal based on backstage.io that serves as a daily cockpit for engineers. The developer portal is an open, highly extensible platform powered by a centralised service catalog. It creates transparency of our service landscape by making services discoverable and by surfacing related metadata and resources like documentation, deployments, pipelines, or pull requests. It provides team pages as entry points for developers that show the team's services and their health in terms of operations, cost, and security, as well as team-based metrics. In the future, the developer portal will help engineers kickstart new services with application blueprints providing full scaffolding and instrumentation for different types of systems and technologies.

Your job will be to scale up your team from scratch, define a product roadmap together with your product manager, deliver on the roadmap by building the product features on time, ensure stable operations, and drive adoption across the Delivery Hero group through quality and convenience instead of mandate. Your customers are thousands of software engineers distributed worldwide, from Buenos Aires, to Berlin, Istanbul, Dubai, Singapore, and Seoul. Your primary stakeholders are engineering leaders across the organization. Your Northstar-KPI is developer satisfaction, and we expect the developer portal to positively impact cycle time and deployment frequency (via better documentation of services and APIs, and later application blueprints), as well as MTTR (via playbooks). Your success is measured by how much you improve those KPIs across the whole group.

Your heroic skills:

  You have experience in building internal developer-facing tools and services.

  You know how to build distributed, efficient, reliable, scalable, and maintainable cloud-native Microservices.

  You have solid cloud experience, preferably with AWS, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)

  You give direction to your team, and show ownership for the product you are delivering.

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
